  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

  • Honey
  • Fresh fruits (optional, for garnish)
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Methods

1. Preheat Your Waffle Iron:
  • Start by preheating your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3. Prepare the Wet Ingredients:
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, and then add in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay. The batter should be thick but pourable.
5. Cook the Waffles:
  • Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray or a small amount of melted butter.
  • Pour an appropriate amount of waffle batter onto the preheated waffle iron. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
6. Serve:
  • Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and place them on serving plates.
  • Drizzle honey generously over the waffles.
  • Optionally, top the waffles with fresh fruits like berries, banana slices, or chopped nuts for added flavor & texture.
7. Enjoy:
  • Serve the waffles while they’re still warm. The combo of warm waffles and sweet honey is sure to be a delightful breakfast or brunch treat.

What does a waffle go well with?

  1. Syrup: Maple syrup is a classic choice, but you can also use fruit syrups, chocolate syrup, or flavored syrups like caramel or butterscotch.

  2. Fruit: Fresh or cooked fruits are a great addition. Try berries, sliced bananas, apple slices, or even fruit compotes.

  3. Whipped Cream: A dollop of whipped cream adds a delightful creaminess to your waffles.

  4. Nuts: Chopped nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds can add crunch and flavor. Toast them lightly for extra richness.

  5. Yogurt or Greek Yogurt: A spoonful of yogurt can provide a tangy contrast to the sweetness of the waffle.

  6. Ice Cream: For a decadent dessert option, serve warm waffles with a scoop of your favorite ice cream.

  7. Honey: As you mentioned in your previous question, honey is a natural and delicious sweetener for waffles.

  8. Nut Butter: Spread peanut butter, almond butter, or any nut butter of your choice on your waffles for a protein boost.

  9. Jam or Preserves: Fruit jams or preserves can add a fruity and sweet layer to your waffles.

  10. Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle chocolate chips into the waffle batter for a chocolatey twist.
